Hand carved New Zealand petrified wood (stone), on a blackened silver shank.
Ball size is 2.2cm diameter, ring size is N (US 6.75).
The size and weight of this ring, along with its design, means it is intended to "flop" on the finger from side to side. You will be aware of it, and this is part of the artist's intention. It should fit fairly tightly to minimise movement, but movement cannot be eliminated.
Warwick Freeman’s work has played an elemental part in the cultivation and recognition of New Zealand contemporary jewellery. Through the use of materials collected from his immediate and wider natural environment, Freeman creates work that explores themes of national identity and place.
